I recently received some interesting news about the growth of Asia’s life insurers by 7.2% in 2023, with strong gains in insurer-embedded value in Japan and Taiwan. It also mentioned that 9 in 10 CEOs embrace hybrid working and almost 8 in 10 noted improved employee engagement thanks to this approach. Additionally, the email mentioned that insured losses are expected to reach $1.08b in CrowdStrike fallout, equivalent to about a fifth of the total financial loss of $5.4b. Asian insurance rates suffered in Q2 amidst rising competition, and APAC data center capacity is expected to double by 2028, with investment totaling $564b over the next four years.
Another email I received discussed a SaaS #FOMO event, training, blog posts, events, and other relevant news in the SaaS industry. It also mentioned various deals and fundraising activities in the SaaS industry, as well as personal updates from the sender, Ben Murray, a SaaS CFO.
In the third email, I learned about the arrest and charging of Nader Al-Naji, who unveiled the project BitClout back in 2021. The allegations mostly focus on traditional fraud, such as lying to investors and misappropriating funds, with the crypto part being secondary. Additionally, the email mentioned that Tenable, a cybersecurity firm, is exploring options including a sale, and various venture capital deals, private equity deals, M&A;, fundraising, and personnel updates in the finance industry.
Lastly, I received news about T.Rowe Price bringing on Tony Rodriguez as their new vice president in private equity, with Rodriguez previously working at FT Partners as a vice president. The email also mentioned the Decentralized Social project, developed by Nader Al-Naji, and its recent challenges. The blockchain industry is currently focused on X, formerly known as Twitter, and its potential replacement with a less centralized alternative. This news comes as Axios Pro journalists analyze the major forces driving climate tech investments, urging readers to download their report on the future of climate tech.
