I’m excited to share that the 2-year-old bull market is showing potential for further growth, which is great news for investors and the market. However, there are reports of VC stalemates impacting new deal activity, with limited partners hesitant to back new funds until the liquidity spigot loosens. U.S. venture capitalists invested $37.5 billion via 2,794 deals during Q3 2024, marking a 34% decrease in deal numbers compared to the prior quarter.
The lack of exits in the venture capital market is also impacting new deal activity, with distributions to limited partners in VC funds at a low, sparking what’s being referred to as a “stalemate.” The number of active investors has fallen by more than 25% year-over-year, and 2024 is set to be the second straight year in which VC fundraising is less than half of 2021 or 2022.
In other news, the Money Stuff podcast has released a new episode covering topics related to exchange-traded funds, including Jane Street’s vibes, portfolio trading, heartbeats, and selling options for yield. Listeners can access the podcast on Apple, Spotify, or other podcast platforms.
